Course Overview

Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology (B. Sc. Biotech):-

Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary course integrating science and technology. Today, Biotechnology has become a major force for the development of industries, diagnosis, prevention & control of many diseases.

Agro- biotechnologies, biofuels, bioinformatics are the developing branches of Biotechnology which are playing a very important role in human life and conservation of resources. The emphasis is on the practical application of the theoretical knowledge to real world situation.

  • First Year

Eligibility :-
  • First Semester :-
    1. A candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree course of Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) must have passed XIIth Standard examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education in Science or it’s equivalent with Mathematics & Statistics as one of the subject & should have secured not less than 45% marks aggregate for Open category & 40% marks in aggregate in case of reserved category candidates.
    2. A candidate who has not offered Mathematics & Statistical as one of the subjects in H. S. C. (Std. XII) shall have to satisfactorily complete a course on Mathematics & Statistics (of 15 hours duration) during the academic year of First Year B. Sc. In which he/ she is admitted.
  • Second Semester :-
    1. A student is eligible to be admitted to second semester irrespective of number of heads of failure in the first semester.

  • Second Year

Eligibility :-

  • Third Semester :-
    • A student is eligible for admission to the Third Semester if –
      1. Either student passes First & Second Semesters the student fails in a combination of theory & / or practical taken in First or Second Semester or together not more than three subjects each.
  • Fourth Semester :-
    • A student is eligible to be admitted to Fourth Semester irrespective of no. of heads of failure in Third Semester. However the student has to clear First semester & Second Semester in order to appear for Fourth Semester examination.

  • Third Year

Eligibility :-
  • Fifth Semester :-
    • A student is eligible for admission to the Fifth Semester if –Either student passes First & Second years

      OR

    • The student fails in a combination of theory &/ or practical taken in Third or Fourth Semester or together not more than three subjects each.
  • Six Semester :-
    • A student is eligible to be admitted to Six Semester irrespective of no. of heads of failure in Fifth Semester. However the student has to clear Third semester & Fourth Semester in order to appear for Fourth Semester examination.
